For STRA properties, such as Airbnbs and holiday rentals, specific fire safety standards apply, particularly in New South Wales (NSW):

NSW Fire Safety Standard for STRA (Effective from 1st November 2021)

  • Evacuation Diagram Placement: An evacuation diagram must be affixed:

    • Within the dwelling on or adjacent to the entrance door to the dwelling; and

    • Within each bedroom on or adjacent to the door to the room. Planning NSW

  • Diagram Specifications:

    • Be at least A4 in size;

    • Be located no less than 1200mm and not more than 1600mm above the finished floor level;

    • Be clear, legible, and durable;

    • Installation of a 2.5 kg ABE portable fire extinguisher in an accessible location in the kitchen;
